Bo Bonner, an oblate at Clear Creek Abbey, shares his journey from Protestant seminary to Catholic faith with warmth and wisdom.

Faith Journey
Family Life

Married over twenty years with five children, Bo blends his love for family with his teachings on philosophy and theology.

Bo “Odo” Bonner was born and raised in Oklahoma and has lived in Iowa for nearly a decade. He is an Oblate of St. Benedict at Clear Creek Abbey, taking the name “Odo” after St. Odo of Cluny. Bo converted to Catholicism while attending Duke Divinity School and has since dedicated his life to teaching, writing, and speaking on the humanities—particularly philosophy, theology, and literature—for nearly 20 years.

With extensive experience in both the classroom and academic administration, as well as curriculum design at the collegiate level, Bo has spent the majority of his career forming students in the Catholic intellectual tradition. He is currently researching for his dissertation in Catholic Theology at St. Mary’s University in London.

Bo is married to his wife, Robyn, and together they have five children. He also hosts the Catholic Morning Show on Iowa Catholic Radio. Born on the feast of St. Blaise, patron of throats, Bo brings both intellect and energy to his work—and, true to form, he hasn’t stopped talking since.
